Dr Aaminah Khan

Research Officer, Children’s Cancer Institute and University of New South Wales

Dr. Aaminah Khan is a cancer biologist at the Children’s Cancer Institute and a conjoint associate lecturer at the University of New South Wales, specializing in finding better treatments for aggressive childhood brain cancers. She graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Medical Science majoring in pathology and was awarded her doctorate in 2021, the first research PhD in Australia to be awarded in the field of diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). She has gained additional expertise in other highly aggressive paediatric brain tumours such as medulloblastoma. Her research focuses on developing novel therapy treatments including the use of metabolic (DFMO/AMXT 1501) and epigenetic inhibitors (CBL0137), with a particular focus on the translation of laboratory findings to clinical trials.
